Why You Should Stop Trying to Be Happy at Work
HAPPINESS is a result of progress and achievement. It is dependent on external sense of success. FULFILLMENT is a result of living and working purposely a meaningfully. It is dependent on internal sense of success. When you consider MEANING and PURPOSE a higher priority than position and salary, you will feel a different level of energy, joy, motivation and success. In one survey of 12,000 employees, 50% said they didn’t get a feeling of meaning and significance from their work, but those who did reported 1.7 times greater job satisfaction, were 1.4 times more engaged, and were more than three times as likely to remain with their current employer. HR LEADERS must put a lot of efforts to provide employees with a meaningful environment by clarifying organization mission, vision and values. If so, they will have employees which are fulfilled every moment they spend at workplace.
